Job Description

The Departments of Biological Sciences and Art + Film at Cal Poly Humboldt invite applications for the 2025 Bio + Art Scientific Illustration Internship, supported by the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation. The program combines science and art through illustration of extinct and endangered Brazilian species, bridging conservation and visual communication.

Internship details:
– Duration: 6–9 months (includes at least 8 weeks in residence in Arcata, CA)
– Mentors: Dr. Pedro Peloso (Biological Sciences) and Prof. Brandice Guerra (Art + Film)
– Up to four interns will be selected (two spots reserved for Cal Poly Humboldt students)
– Stipend: $1,800 for residency + possible housing and travel support

Requirements:
Experience in wildlife illustration is required; paleoart experience preferred. Applicants should have completed a degree within the past 5 years. Both digital and traditional illustrators may apply.
