Admission to the Ph.D. program

The Department of Biology at Ashoka University invites students to carry out cutting-edge research through its Ph.D. program in Biological Sciences. We are recruiting Ph.D. candidates for the academic session, spring semester 2026, in the following thematic areas (Only for candidates with valid national fellowship scores):

1. Autoimmune disorders
2. Tumour immunology, Epigenetics, Lipid metabolism
3. Human Immunology
4. Systems Medicine, Omics, and Augmented Intelligence
5. Evolutionary Immunology, Host-Pathogen Interaction
6. Infectious Disease Glycobiology
7. Computational Genomics, Disease Genetics and Precision Health, Neuroscience of Sleep
8. Quantitative Biology
9. Metagenomics, microbiomics, Host-Microbe interaction
10. Bacterial Gene Regulation
11. Computational biology (single-cell, spatial omics, algorithms)

Funded PhD positions (thematic areas):

1. Microbial evolution and AMR
2. Functional RNAs and Directed Evolution
3. Lipids in Cancer Pathophysiology

These thematic areas encompass the diversity in biological systems, in both length and complexity. State-of-the-art research facilities and a unique liberal arts environment allow Ph.D. students at Ashoka University to work on interdisciplinary research projects drawing on the expertise of faculty members within and beyond the Biology Department.

Eligibility: MSc/BTech/MTech/MBBS/MPharm And a Valid National Eligibility Test Score (JGEEBILS/CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/GATE/INSPIRE). Candidates without a valid national eligibility test score who wish to pursue PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology; candidates with MBBS degree and without a valid national eligibility score are eligible to apply for an online written examination at Ashoka University.
