Job Description

The Varanasi Lab at UMass Chan Medical School is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join our growing research program focused on immunology, cancer biology, and immunometabolism. This position is ideal for someone eager to develop strong experimental skills in a basic and translational biomedical research setting.
Our lab studies how immune–metabolic pathways regulate tumor progression, liver cancer, and metastasis, using mouse models, multicolor flow cytometry, and immune profiling.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Has a strong interest in immunology, cancer immunology, tumor immunology, and metabolism
Has hands-on experience with flow cytometry (multicolor panels, acquisition, analysis)
Is motivated to learn immune cell biology, T cells, myeloid cells, and macrophages
Enjoys experimental research
Is organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative
🧪 Required / Preferred Skills
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Biomedical Sciences
Experience with:
Flow cytometry / FACS (FlowJo preferred)
Cell culture
Mouse models (preferred but not required)
Molecular biology techniques (qPCR, Western blot, RNA work)
Basic data analysis
