Our AAV Gene Therapy Analytical Development group at Eli Lilly and Company is seeking a contractor Scientist (18-month contract) to help drive innovation in AAV characterization and analytical method development. Join us in advancing the next generation of gene therapy.

𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲: Scientist, Analytical Development
𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 18 months (Contract), starting immediately
𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Boston (On-site)

𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• 3–5 years of academic or industry experience (including internships/co-ops).
• Proficiency in cell culture and aseptic technique, ddPCR/qPCR, ELISA/MSD, and DNA/RNA extraction.
• Hands-on experience developing potency assays for gene therapy products.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve goals in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:

• Flow cytometry-based assay development and FlowJo data analysis.
• Hands-on experience automating analytical methods with TECAN Fluent liquid handling systems.
• Hands-on experience with capillary electrophoresis (CE) and capillary isoelectric focusing (ciEF) for viral protein characterization.

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:

The Scientist will be responsible for establishing new methods for AAV characterization as well as routine testing. The Scientist will interact with other departments and coordinate efforts across departments. The ideal candidate will have a track record in molecular biology, cellular biology, and assay development.

• Conduct routine and release testing using ddPCR, ELISA/MSD, and cell-based potency assays, as well as flow cytometry-based assays.
• Develop novel cell-based assays to support research and development programs.
• Maintain laboratory operations, including aliquoting and cell culture upkeep.
• Prepare and maintain SOPs and author Certificates of Testing (CoTs).
• Present data, progress, and updates in group meetings.
