Job Description

Bioinformatician JOB
Institution: Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), Dubai, UAE
Appointment: Full-time | On-site

About the role
MBRU is seeking a Bioinformatician to drive multi-omics analysis across genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, single-cell and proteomics projects. You will collaborate with clinicians and researchers to design analyses, build reproducible pipelines, and translate results into biological and clinical insights. Strong statistics is essential; machine learning experience is a plus. This role suits someone who enjoys owning multiple projects in parallel and shipping high-quality, well-documented results.
Key responsibilities
• Design, implement, and maintain analysis pipelines for whole-genome/exome, bulk & single-cell RNA-seq, ATAC/ChIP-seq, DNA methylation (WGBS/ONT/PacBio), and proteomics (e.g., LC-MS/SomaLogic).
• Perform end-to-end analyses: QC, alignment/quantification, normalization, differential testing, integration, and visualization.
• Apply solid statistical methods (experimental design, modeling, multiple testing control) and, where appropriate, ML for prediction, clustering, and feature selection.
• Curate metadata; ensure data governance and documentation best practices.
• Communicate findings via clear reports, dashboards, figures, and presentations; co-author manuscripts and grant deliverables.
• Support and mentor lab members on bioinformatics tools and best practices.
• Juggle multiple timelines and stakeholders while maintaining rigor and reproducibility.
Minimum qualifications (required)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing genomics, epigenomics, and transcriptomics datasets.
• Proficiency in R (Bioconductor) and Python for data analysis and visualization.
• Strong foundation in statistics: regression/GLMs, hypothesis testing, multiple testing (FDR), experimental design, power/sample-size, and basic mixed models.
• Knowledge in linux command line and administration (Preferred)
• Excellent communication, documentation, and multitasking skills.

Tools & technologies (typical)
R (tidyverse, Bioconductor), Python (pandas, numpy, scanpy, scikit-learn), STAR/Cell Ranger/minimap2, GATK/bcftools, salmon/kallisto, MACS2, methylation callers (e.g., pycoMeth/DSS/bsseq), Snakemake/Nextflow, Git/GitHub, SLURM, Docker/Singularity, Plotly/ggplot2, LaTeX/Quarto/R-Markdown.
What we offer
• Collaborative environment at a leading medical university with direct clinical impact.
• Access to HPC resources and modern tooling.
• Opportunities for authorship, conference presentations, and professional growth.
How to apply
Send a CV, a brief cover letter describing relevant project experience, with references, and (optional) links to code repositories or analysis reports to the Omer.AlKhnbashi@dubaihealth.ae. Please include “Bioinformatician Application – Your Name” in the subject line.
