Job Description
We’re hiring!
Lead Vaccine Development: Assistant Research Scientist, UGA Perez Lab
Opportunity: The Perez Lab in the Department of Population Health at the University of Georgia invites applications for an Assistant Research Scientist—a critical, non-tenure track faculty role dedicated to advanced vaccine development.
This position offers a unique chance to lead pioneering research using state-of-the-art platforms to address urgent public health challenges.
Your Leadership Role:
Platform Expertise: You will be the primary driver in utilizing viral reverse genetics (influenza, paramyxovirus vectors like NDV) and cutting-edge mRNA technology to design and create novel recombinant vaccines.
Targeted Impact: Research efforts will be directed toward controlling high-consequence pathogens, including High Path Avian Influenza (HPAI) and other significant poultry viruses.
Research Autonomy: Lead the complete experimental workflow: design, execution, data analysis, and preparation of comprehensive scientific manuscripts and reports.
Global Collaboration: Engage with and mentor an international group of students, postdocs, and researchers, fostering a dynamic and collaborative research environment.
The Perez Lab’s Mission: Our core focus is understanding the interspecies transmission and pathogenesis of viruses to develop superior control strategies, including novel vaccines and antivirals (specifically leveraging platforms to enhance mucosal immunity).
