Description: Based at our new Marlborough, MA site, the Associate Scientist will work closely with internal and external collaborators as part of a multidisciplinary team to advance research on novel technologies, and conduct proof of concept evaluations that address challenges in the field of cell therapy.

To advance next-generation cell therapy bioprocessing platforms, we are searching for a highly motivated Associate Scientist who will be actively involved in conducting innovative research on cell therapy manufacturing technologies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, conducting, and analyzing cutting-edge research projects independently, to enable the large-scale manufacturing of cell therapies. By working at the interface of cell and gene therapy and bioprocessing, the candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary collaborative team of molecular biologists, data scientists, sensorics experts, and bioprocessing/automation engineers.

What You Will Accomplish Together With Us

  • Conceive, design and independently execute research projects aimed at advancing cell therapy manufacturing, using next-generation technologies such as microfluidics, automation, and sensors
  • Identify and establish collaborations with academics and startup companies, to assess and evaluate innovative technology concepts
  • Guide and support proof-of-concept evaluations with internal collaborators
  • Maintain routine cultures of primary cells and cell lines – this may require occasional weekend work
  • Technology transfer of promising technology candidates to internal Product development teams
  • Propose innovative approaches and techniques to address cell therapy manufacturing bottlenecks
  • Prepare first author Application Notes, Publications, Abstracts, Presentations, etc, as needed
  • Assist in general lab management and upkeep
  • Diligent maintenance of lab records, logs, and notebooks

What will convince us:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences related discipline with 5+ years of industry experience or Master’s degree in life sciences related discipline with 3+ years of industry experience
  • 3+ years of industry experience working with biological cellular systems
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with cell and tissue culture across a variety of cell types, including adherent and suspension cells, as well as primary cells and cell lines
  • Experience with molecular biology assays: Flow cytometry, microscopy, mRNA expression profiling
  • Comfortable working with complex technologies, for example, bioreactors, microfluidics, automation
  • Competency in stem cell culture, T cell culture, gene editing is preferred
