Job Description
REQ22007
About This Role:
In this exciting role as a Research Fellow, Immunopathology, you will be a part of a pioneering team dedicated to enhancing our understanding of disease pathogenesis through the generation and interrogation of bulk tissue, single-cell, and spatially-targeted human proteomic and transcriptomic datasets. This fellowship focuses on improving mechanistic insights and identifying new therapeutic and biomarker targets in immunological diseases. Your efforts will not only involve leveraging nanoscale proteomic analysis and collaborating with various external systems biology teams but also utilizing publicly available ‘omics datasets to uncover the drivers of disease. You will play a critical role in the experimental design and execution of targeted and discovery ’omics experiments, collaborating closely with the Biomarkers and Systems Biology and Immunology Research Unit to drive data acquisition and analysis. This position is vital to accelerating the generation and examination of human systems-level tissue datasets in immunology, thereby supporting our R&D strategies and therapeutic hypothesis testing.
What You’ll Do:
- Execute innovative spatial and pathology-guided targeted and discovery single cell/cell-type targeted proteomics studies in human autoimmune/immunological disease tissue biopsies.
- Collaborate with Pathology and Immunology colleagues on multiplexed histology-based analyses for targeted investigation of protein and RNA analytes in human tissues.
- Collaborate with SMEs, computational biology, and biostatistics colleagues for implementation of robust analytical pipelines.
- Work with Pathology and Immunology departmental mentors to achieve career development goals in immunopathology and immunology drug development; participate in external ‘omics collaborations via open innovation model.
Who You Are:
You are passionate about advancing scientific understanding and possess a strong drive to leverage data to make impactful discoveries. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to engage with cutting-edge proteomic technologies. Your dedication to continuous learning and excellence in research propels you in making meaningful contributions to immunopathology.
Required Skills:
- PhD in biology, biochemistry, chemical biology, immunology, pathology, or a related field with experience in proteomics, immunology, and/or immunopathology
- Demonstrated productivity, independence, scientific rigor, and experience leveraging proteomic technologies for molecular characterization of human tissue specimens and/or cellular/translational models.
- Expertise in targeted proteomics & mass spectrometry analysis, nanoflow LC-MS/MS method development, low-input sample processing, affinity capture, protein extraction from FFPE tissues, laser capture microdissection, deep visual proteomics, spatial transcriptomics (Xenium, CosMx), multiplexed spatial molecular imaging.
- Significant experience in targeted (PRM/SRM) and discovery (DDA/DIA) assay development, analysis, and data processing is strongly desired.
- Familiarity with Thermo Orbitrap instrumentation is a plus.
- Highly effective communication skills, ability to work independently or with minimal supervision, and capacity to work in a highly collaborative and cross-functional environment are required.
Preferred Skills:
- 2 + years Postdoc experience.
Job Level: Internship
