As our business looks to deliver its ambitious strategy of growth, we are looking for an Applications Scientist (Pharma) to join our Research and Technology team.

You will be responsible for developing and optimizing applications for Croda excipients in pharmaceutical and bioprocessing needs and develop data packages to support claims of existing and future products. The Application Scientist will work closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to the design, development, and characterization of formulations and the improvement of existing ones. The Applications Scientist position is located in Princeton, NJ.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and optimize applications testing using Croda excipients for bioprocessing upstream, downstream and pharmaceutical workflows.
  • Perform cell culture experiments to assess material impact on cell viability, protein expression, and metabolic activity.
  • Able to plan, design, and perform in vitro cell-based and immunological assays to evaluate Croda products’ performance in biologics manufacturing.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of experiments, results, and procedures under industry and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, SOPs, publications, and oral presentations as required.
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including analytical chemists, quality control specialists, and production experts to advance projects.
  • Troubleshoot issues and propose effective solutions to enhance product quality and performance.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advances in excipient science to drive innovation within the company and better serve our customers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Detail-oriented and possess a high level of accuracy.
  • Participate in relevant meetings/teleconferences with customers.
  • Participate in general lab and instrument maintenance.
  • Willing to learn new techniques and application areas.

  • Ph.D. (preferred) or Master’s (+2 years of industry experience) in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Strong lab skills: cell culture, protein analysis, flow cytometry, and assay development.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with Croda products is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Good teamwork skills but also the capability to work independently.
  • Proven ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ability to prioritize, multitask, and work in an interdisciplinary and evolving environment.

Annual Base Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $95,000.00. This range reflects the base salary the company reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, experience, education, and skill level. Additional compensation, such as annual bonuses or other incentives, may be offered based on eligibility and company policies.
