Job Description

We are hiring a Project Associate (Perfusate Chemistry) at the Healthcare Technology Innovation Centre (HTIC), IIT Madras Research Park. This is a specialized research role with specific qualification and experience requirements. Duration: 6 months (ad hoc basis) – Exceptional performers may be considered for a contract renewal.

Who Should Apply

• MSc in Biochemistry or Applied Biochemistry
• Experience in preparing and evaluating perfusate or cell culture media
• Experience with assays like ELISA, spectrophotometry, or blood gas analysis
• Proficient in data tools like GraphPad Prism or Excel
• Good understanding of organ preservation and machine perfusion principles
• Self-driven, detail-oriented, and a good team player

Who Should Not Apply

• Degree is in Biotechnology
• No hands-on laboratory experience with biochemical assays or lab instrumentation
• Not available to join immediately
• Unable to commit to the full 6-month duration
• Not willing to work on-site in Chennai

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimize perfusion fluids to maintain organ health.
• Monitor key parameters like pH, electrolytes, oxygen levels, and metabolites.
• Conduct experiments to test fluid stability and performance.
• Study organ preservation and injury during perfusion.
• Perform lab assays and assist with real-time monitoring systems.
• Record data, analyze results, and support report writing.
• Improve formulations based on findings and follow lab safety practices.
