Name of the Post: Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow (IPDF)
Research Area: Biophysical Chemistry, NMR Spectroscopy, Nucleic Acid Structure and
Dynamics

Eligibility criteria: Ph.D. in Chemistry/Biological/Life Sciences or any other relevant area
from a recognized universify / institution.
The candidate must have first-hand experience in basic biochemistry and biophysics,
particularly in working with nucleic acids and/or proteins. The candidate must be well-versed
in the structural and conformational aspects of nucleotides/amino acids and nucleic
acids/proteins. A mandatory qualification is the ability to acquire and analyse one-dimensional,
two-dimensional, and multidimensional Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Onml spectroscopic
data for biomolecules. The candidate should also be knowledgeable in basic buffer and NMR
sample preparation and purification techniques. While experience with NMR methods
development or other biophysical techniques such as circular dichroism, fluorescence
spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, isothermal calorimetry, and molecular
dynamics simulations is desirable, it is not a strict requirement.
Ph.D. scholars who have submitted their thesis are also eligible to apply. However, the scholar
must submit th’e provisionaUdegree certificate within six months tom ttre date of appointment.
If not submitted within the time limit, the appointment will stand cancelled, or a decision will
be taken in consultation with the thesis processing authority.
Candidates who have completed their Ph.D. from IISER Bhopal are not allowed to apply for
these IPDF positions.
Age limit: Preference will be given to candidates below 35 years of age as on the last date of
submission of application.
Tenure: Initially for one year with the possibility of extension for another year’based on the
satisfactory performance.
Fellowship: Rs. 67,000/- per month * House Rent Allowance (as per Institute rules). However,
the candidates who have submiffed thesis and the award of PhD Degree / provisional degree is
awaited, they will be paid reduced fellowship of Rs. 35,000/- per month plus HRA. On
submission ofPhD degree, full fellowship ofRs. 67,OOO/- plus HRA shall be restored effective
from the date of award of PhD degree / provisional degree.
