Job Description
As an Associate Scientist, you will be expected to be able to use your knowledge of virology and molecular biology to execute experiments with guidance from senior scientists and project teams. You must be self-motivated to deliver vaccine program objectives on time and be able to identify and mitigate any potential delays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply virology and molecular biology expertise to support GSK vaccine projects
- Implementation of new technologies to help drive vaccine development
- Work with senior scientists to ensure project milestones are met on time
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Scientific Field with 1+ years of experience or MS with 0+ years of experience
- At least 2 years of experience with molecular biology techniques
- At least 2 years of experience with mammalian tissue culture
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with one or more of the following:
- Human respiratory viruses or herpesviruses
- Propagation of influenza virus
- Use of lentivirus or VSV-based pseudovirus systems
- Work with viral agents at Biosafety Level 3
- Involvement or collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry
- Working with large project teams in a matrix environment
- Excellent communication to effectively articulate complex scientific data
- Basic skills in statistical analysis
- Fluency in spoken and written English

#EarlyCareers• If you are based in Cambridge, MA; Waltham, MA; Rockville, MD; or San Francisco, CA, the annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges $73,838 to $123,063. 

The US salary ranges take into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role.
