for the Faculty of Biotechnology.
We offer interdisciplinary, cutting-edge topics at the interface between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and state-of-the-art analytics. Our applied research is conducted in close interaction with renowned industry players, focusing on new strategies for the digitalization of analytical processes. For our BMFTR-funded project “SAM3 – Smart Applications for Multimodal Molecular Pattern Recognition,” we are seeking a motivated and resilient individual interested in new multimodal metabolomics approaches in a high-class team. Main Responsibilities
Conduct investigations within the research project:
- Develop a multiomics platform for complementary quality and authenticity analysis of fermented coffee, cocoa, and other foods
- Further develop our volatilomics platform (GC-IMS-MS, GC-HRMS)
- Establish reference analytics using common coupling techniques, e.g., GC-MS, LC-MS
- Develop AI-based data analysis methods, e.g., CNN, GAN, Autoencoder
- Design and develop data augmentation methods for generating synthetic data, e.g., using neural networks
- Develop and adapt new data analysis tools based on Python and/or R
- Evaluate and compare with literature
- Present results, publish findings
- Supervise students in study and thesis projects
- General laboratory work
Requirements
- We are seeking applicants (f/m/d) with excellent academic performance and an MSc degree in chemistry, food chemistry, biochemistry, or related fields
- You should have initial experience in instrumental analytics, e.g., GC-MS or LC-MS
- Basic programming skills (ideally in Python and/or R) are required; basic experience with machine learning/deep learning/chemometrics is helpful
- You have technical skills, enjoy working with hardware, and like interdisciplinary work
