Job Description
🔬 Ya-Ming Hou Laboratory
Our lab is located at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA (Sidney Kimmel Medical College). We are seeking motivated candidates for a Postdoctoral Research Position in tRNA Modifications in Oncogenesis and in Neurodegeneration
📌 Job Description
We seek candidates with a fresh PhD degree to apply bioinformatics skills to decode tRNA modifications in cancers and in neurodegeneration diseases. This candidate should also have basic molecular biology skills and be able to use CRISPR techniques. tRNA modifications are the exciting frontier in the central dogma of genetic information transfer from DNA to RNA to protein, where tRNAs are the adaptors and the modifications in tRNAs control the adaptor activity.
Our position is NIH-funded at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA, which offers intellectual growth and the potential for long-term stability.
✅ Requirements
- PhD in Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, or related discipline
- Strong background in bioinformatics, next-generation sequencing (NGS), or computational data analysis
- Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and statistical analysis
- Knowledge of RNA biology and interest in RNA modifications (preferred but not required)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment
- Strong communication and writing skills
