Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated biochemist to join our Protein Science group. The individual will be part of a multidisciplinary team to design, produce and characterize novel therapeutic antibodies. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a cross-functional team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge biotherapeutics in a fast-paced, rapidly growing biotech company with a bold vision.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate closely with colleagues with diverse scientific backgrounds and contribute to our interdisciplinary Biologics Discovery and Drug Development team to drive the design and production of innovative therapeutic molecules, and the optimization of their biochemical/ biophysical properties.
- Serve as the SME of antibody expression and purification platforms and contribute to ModeX’s multi-targeting strategy through antibody engineering and the optimization of production and screening workflows.
- Independently develop protein purification processes and carry out multistep purification to generate high-quality antibodies for downstream biochemical/biophysical assays and functional screening.
- Be responsible for experimental planning, execution, data analysis/interpretation, and communication with cross-functional teams for successful completion of projects.
- Ensure effective, high-quality, timely and appropriate documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree required: MS or Ph.D in protein science, biochemistry, structure biology or other related disciplines
- Lab experience required: MS with 8+ years or PhD with 2-3+ years of relevant lab and professional experience
- Skilled in common mammalian cell culture and recombinant protein expression using both transient and stable expression platforms
- Direct experience with various protein purification techniques including affinity, IEX and SEC chromatography and AKTA based purification platforms is required
- Familiar with routine biologics characterization and analytics technologies including BLI/SPR, ELISA, HPLC and UPLC
- Knowledge in antibody structure and function, and experience in antibody drug discovery and multispecific antibody development are preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication, organization, and data analysis skills. Outstanding troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Highly adaptable to a fast-paced work environment and capable of working both independently and collaboratively within project teams

Pay Range $120,000.00 – $130,000.00 / year
