Description
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: Perform and lead cross-functional laboratory assays with a focus on in vitro/In vivo studies. Assist in the development and execution of novel assays including collecting, processing and communicating data.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of SOPs and assay workflows for pre-clinical and clinical assays.
- Contribute to data processing and preparation for client presentation.
- Perform basic and advanced cell culture to characterize growth and survival under treatment by client test agents through the use of 2-D and 3-D cell-based assays.
- Lead small scale projects that are specific to cell- banking or operations.
- Contribute to the development and execution of 3-D co-culture assays including primary, PDX, and immune cells.
- Efficiently plan and execute cell line scheduling for in vivo studies.
- Perform molecular biology endpoints including qRT-PCR, ELISA, Western Blot, and Luminex.
- Responsible for operating and assisting in development of high throughput automated laboratory systems including liquid handlers, dosing units, plate readers, and high content imaging equipment.
- Documentation and maintenance of laboratory and supply inventory by working with facilities and procurement team.
- Communicate the scientific outcomes of experiments/projects between teams in a clear and detailed manner.
- Contribute to the culture of the ex vivo group by demonstrating high performance, sporting accountability and fostering collaboration and teamwork.
- Other duties may be assigned verbally at any time.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Expertise and well versed in cell culture and cell-based assays.
- Proficiency handling primary cells, tumor tissue, and various blood products including serum/plasma, whole blood, and PBMCs.
- Proficiency with one or more additional molecular biology techniques including qRT-PCR, ELISA, Western Blot, and Luminex.
- Experience with flow cytometry and sequencing is preferred but not required.
- Experience managing small-scale projects and maintaining strong communication skills are required.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a strong sense of integrity and confidentiality.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound and accurate judgment in making timely decisions.
- Strong planning, organizational, computer, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated accountability, initiative, and responsibility for own work.
- Ability to observe safety and security procedures.
- Ability to assist with other tasks/duties as needed in a small company environment.
Education
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- BS or MS degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience required. Preferred field of study in biology, or related sciences.
- Laboratory based experience and knowledge of aseptic technique/cell culture is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (for lab personnel)
- Must be able to sit and use hands to finger, handle and feel.
- Must be able to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Some activities require repetitive motion and reaching, pulling or pushing.
- In carrying out the duties of the job there will be frequent exposure to fumes and chemical hazards.
- Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (for office-setting personnel)
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time using a computer in a typical office environment in a multi-level facility
