Job Description
Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Senior Scientist to join our Biopharmaceutics and Material Sciences Department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. The Senior Scientist is primarily laboratory-based and focuses on advanced material profiling as well as mechanistic and computational modeling of solid oral drug product performance, leveraging intrinsic material and process attributes. This role acts as a subject matter expert on multidisciplinary global teams and sub-teams, implementing material-sparing approaches and conducting risk assessments to facilitate the development of robust formulations and manufacturing processes applicable.

Requirements
- Ph.D. Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Engineering, or equivalent with experience in a related field
- Broad knowledge of pharmaceutical oral solids manufacturing processes, including theoretical and practical aspects of how material properties influence drug product performance.
- Experience in developing mechanistic models for unit operations of solids and manufacturing processes
- Proficient in Python and Matlab, with relevant practical applications.
- Skilled in managing large datasets and using advanced data-science tools.
- Ability to learn new technologies and concepts, work independently, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- History of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
- May require an ability to push, pull, lift and carry objects up to 50lbs.
- May require ability to wear a Respirator.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Profiles materials with innovative technologies, studying critical properties and their effects on product attributes and processing
• Resolves material and manufacturing issues, provides risk assessments, and supports robust solid dosage formulation and process development
• Designs strategies to predict drug product performance by modeling key manufacturing and physical processes (e.g., granulation, milling, coating)
• Uses advanced data modeling to optimize material properties and process conditions for product design
• Engages with multidisciplinary teams as a recognized expert within and beyond Material and Analytical Sciences (MAS)
• Prepares and reviews technical memos and reports
Compensation Data
This position offers a base salary typically between $140,000.00 and $222,000.00 USD. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please
