ANNOUNCING: The SOHAN P MODAK- IGNITE TRAVEL GRANT

The grant offers opportunities for PhD students working in Indian universities to travel to NATIONAL MEETINGS to present their research, broaden their outlook, and expand their professional networks.

Eligibility Criteria:

(a)    Full-time PhD students registered at an Indian university.
(b)    Students registered in universities, but working at research institutes will not be eligible to apply.
(c)    Abstract to the conference must have been accepted at the time of application.
(d)    Priority will be given for those selected for talks and poster presentations.


The application window closes on October 5, 2025. Results will be announced within two to three weeks after the application window closes.

Quantum of Funding: Up to INR 25,000/- (Inclusive of childcare support, if required)

What is covered? 

Registration, Accommodation, Travel (air, train, bus and shared cabs)

Caregiver support for Children: We are providing support for women with children less than 2 years of age, to take an accompanying person for childcare. Reimbursement for accompanying personal would be allowed (to cover food and accommodation) during the conference days within the limits of the travel award. Application should include a half-page written description (not to exceed 250 words) of the need for support and how the funds will be used.

Claiming the funds: 

Funding decisions are announced following the completion of review cycle. The grant money will be disbursed against actual expenses incurred. Notification of acceptance of presentation from the meeting organizers must be submitted. Awardees will be contacted individually, and award announcements will be posted on social media and on our website: ignitelsf.in

Selected students claim for funds upon their return from the conference within 15 days of timeline.
