Job Description
Company: SRT Therapeutics
Location: San Diego, CA. 100% on-site
Reports To: Biomarkers Lead
About the Company
SRT Therapeutics is a San Diego-based biotech company established in 2024 by the founders of Prometheus Biosciences, Steph Targan, MD (Cedars Sinai), Janine Bilsborough, Ph.D. (Cedars Sinai), the scientific team that discovered Tulisokibart (MK7240) and the role of TL1A in IBD and Scott Glenn and Lauren Otsuki, the drug development team that took Tulisokibart (MK7240) from academia into the clinic. Building on the demonstrated success of the precision medicine approach in IBD with Tulisokibart, SRT Therapeutics will expand this approach by targeting key pathways that not only modulate inflammatory pathways, but also promote tissue healing in IBD. This strategy will move SRT Therapeutics beyond the current empirical treatment model to realize the goal of enhancing both outcomes and the quality of care for our patients.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Senior Scientist to join our Predictive and Translational Biomarkers team. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on expertise in designing, executing, and analyzing complex experiments relevant to immunology, is driven to generate high-quality mechanistic data, and will provide deep biological insight into pipeline programs. This cross-functional position will support multi-omic data generation to enable precision medicine and develop translational biomarkers assays to support IND-enabling work.
Beyond technical expertise, the candidate will have the opportunity to provide subject matter expertise, collaborating effectively with internal teams and external partners, and ensure projects stay on track to support the company’s innovation pipeline. This role requires a proactive, solutions-oriented approach, the ability to adapt to evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute complex primary functional assays to assess drug mechanism of action (MoA) and advance our multi-omic strategy for predictive biomarker discovery.
- Design, optimize, and validate high parameter immunophenotyping panels for immune cell characterization from patient samples.
- Develop translational biomarker assays including target engagement, receptor occupancy, and pharmacodynamic endpoints to support IND-enabling studies and early clinical development.
- Perform high-quality data analysis, interpretation, and rigorous documentation of experimental results in ELNs and technical reports.
- Contribute scientifically to project team discussions by providing insight and proposing clear, feasible, and robust laboratory experimental plans to address major questions.
- Collaborate closely with the Computational Biology and Biobanking groups by ensuring that generated data is standardized, of high quality, and organized appropriately to support predictive biomarker discovery.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience
- PhD or equivalent experience in Immunology, Cell Biology, or a closely related field with 5+ years of industry or mixed academic/industry experience in immunology, drug discovery, or translational research.
- Extensive hands-on expertise in immunology lab techniques, including demonstrated ability to isolate, culture, and characterize primary human immune cells and tissue.
- Deep technical proficiency in advanced multi-color flow cytometry (panel design, optimization, acquisition, and analysis using software such as FlowJo).
- Demonstrated experience in primary cell functional assay development relevant to inflammatory/autoimmune disease.
- Prior experience in the development or technical execution of assays for translational biomarkers (e.g., pharmacodynamic endpoints, target engagement, receptor occupancy).
- Proven ability to work independently and efficiently in a laboratory setting, manage time effectively, and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present detailed laboratory findings and proposed next steps to a scientific team.
