Job Description
A fully funded postdoctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Colin Wu (https://ccr.cancer.gov/staff-directory/colin-cc-wu)in National Cancer Institute (NCI), NIH, located in Frederick, MD. Our research focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms of ribosome quality control and uncovering non-canonical functions of the ribosome in mammalian systems.
We offer multiple exciting projects, including:
- Developing innovative methodologies to identify and characterize mammalian ribosome degradation (Coria, Shah et al., Mol Cell 2025).
- Investigating non-canonical ribosomal functions in signal transduction (Wu et al., Cell 2020 & Thalalla Gamage, Khoogar et al., Sci Adv 2025).
- Characterizing local translation–coupled RNA decay and protein quality control.
The postdoctoral fellow will integrate high-throughput genome-wide approaches, computational, biochemical, and genetic methods to define the molecular mechanisms of these pathways. These projects provide rigorous training in diverse disciplines, with the goal of establishing a strong, high-impact research portfolio.
We are looking for researchers with strong experience in molecular biology and/or RNA biology. International scientists and U.S. citizens are equally eligible. Interested candidates can send a motivation letter, CV, and contact information for two references to colin.wu2@nih.gov
