Start of employment: January 2026, the position is available for one year (with the possibility to prolongate).

Our Department at Bern University invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work on a innovative research project in the field chemical biology, enzyme engineering and biocatalysis.

Your tasks

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to,

  • Execution of innovative research projects in the field chemical biology, enzyme engineering and biocatalysis
  • Development and expansion of the state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure
  • Support in supervision of internships, Bachelor’s and Master’s theses

Your profile

You are an independent, curious, creative, and ambitious team player who enjoys interdisciplinary science, mastering new things, and rigorous experimental work. You possess:

  • PhD degree in chemistry, biochemistry or biotechnology with a strong track record
  • theoretical and practical knowledge in (computational) protein engineering, biochemical reactions, molecular biology and enzyme assay development
  • Solid experience with common analytical and purification methods (e.g., NMR, UV-Vis, HPLC, GC, MS).
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Experience in experimental protein structure elucidation is a plus
