About IMol:
The International Institute of Molecular Mechanisms and Machines (IMol) Polish Academy of Sciences, is a new and vibrant institute constituted in partnership with University Medical Center Göttingen, Germany and University of Warsaw, Poland. We provide innovative training, guidance and mentoring in an international “open door” environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
About the job:
This very innovative project aims at investigating how a proto-metabolism may have arisen at the origin of life. Using a bottom-up approach recently established in our lab, you will have the chance to set up a system capable of generating a membrane potential and to devise a strategy to use such a potential to drive (bio)chemical reactions.

Starting date: May 1st, 2026 (or as soon as possible)
Profile of candidates/requirements:
– PhD degree in biology, biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry or related discipline fields of life sciences (the title obtained not earlier than in 2014 – this is a requirement of the grant funder and the given period can be extended by maternity or other long-term, justified leaves),
– Excellent communication skills in English.
Key responsibilities:
– Planning, performing and analyzing experiments,
– Presenting results at internal and external meetings/conferences,
– Preparing manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
We offer:
– Fully funded, full time position for 2 years with possibility of extension,
– Competitive salary ca. 9.700 PLN gross/month (for comparison, the Polish minimum salary is ca. 4.800 PLN gross/month and the average salary is ca. 9.000 PLN gross/month, and the Polish academic full professor salary is ca. 9.400 PLN gross/month),
