We invite applications for faculty positions in Science Communication for our Undergraduate Programmes.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in communicating science to public audiences. You will be contributing to the Science Communication Minor.

This position is ideal for someone who combines knowledge of science with the imagination and skill to communicate widely — through writing, visual media, performance, exhibits, or community-based programmes.

Azim Premji University, Bhopal, started operations in August 2023, offering postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. The first phase of campus construction is complete and the overall 50-acre campus with state-of-the-art academic and residential facilities will be ready over the next few years. We expect to grow to about 4000 students and 500 members over the next few years.

In addition to teaching in our programmes, we offer faculty an enriching and fulfilling institution building experience encompassing interdisciplinary programme design, setting up and implementation of key institutional processes, culture building, and participation in various institutional bodies. The University encourages and offers support to faculty members for pursuing their own research.

_{Responsibilities:}

The candidate will be responsible for:

• Developing and teaching courses that are part of the Science Communication Minor and Undergraduate common curriculum
• Collaborating with science faculty and students to create multimedia content (articles, videos, podcasts, infographics, storybooks, etc.)
• Mentoring students on campus 
• Contributing to the development and conducting workshops on science communication
• Supporting students in developing science communication projects and accompanying them on field visits
• Bringing a reflective, practice-based perspective on science education and engagement

Requirements

• An advanced degree in science, science communication, science journalism, education, media studies, or related fields
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in science communication or public engagement
• Proven track record of creative, practice-based work in public science engagement
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific ideas into accessible, engaging formats
• A portfolio that showcases a range of science communication work (e.g., articles, videos, public talks, exhibits, performances, or community-based projects)
• Strong communication skills in English (and preferably one or more Indian languages)
• Experience teaching or conducting workshops in science communication
• Familiarity with participatory and inclusive approaches to science engagement
• Ability to work across disciplines and collaborate with educators, researchers, artists and students
