Job Overview

Job Description

The Plowright Lab (https://plowrightlab.org/) at Cornell University is recruiting two postdoctoral researchers to join our team working at the intersection of ecology, zoonotic spillover, and systems science.

Postdoc #1 – Bat Virus Dynamics
Seeking candidates with a PhD in ecology, disease ecology, epidemiology, or a related field. Applicants should have strong quantitative and biological skills and a deep understanding of disease dynamics. This position will focus on analyzing large-scale datasets on bat viruses and spillover risk.

Postdoc #2 – Systems Science & Spillover Prevention
Seeking candidates with a PhD in systems science, infectious disease ecology, epidemiology, or a related field. This position will investigate how environmental, ecological, sociological, and economic drivers shape land-use decisions, and how those decisions influence pathogen shedding in bats and zoonotic contact with spillover hosts.

For both positions, we are looking for organized, curious, creative critical thinkers who are strong communicators and excited to work in highly collaborative, interdisciplinary teams.
