Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist/Senior Scientist with 3-5 years of experience in Mammalian Upstream Process Development to support biologics development programs. The candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and scaling mammalian cell culture processes for recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibodies, and other biologics. The role requires hands-on experience with cell culture systems, bioreactor operations, process optimization, technology transfer, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to enable successful process development and manufacturing.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design and execute mammalian cell culture process development studies, including seed train, batch, fed-batch, and perfusion processes.
  • Perform media optimization, feed strategy development, and process parameter optimization to improve cell growth, productivity, and product quality.
  • Operate and maintain shake flasks, Ambr systems, bench-scale bioreactors, and pilot-scale bioreactors.
  • Analyze process performance data and identify opportunities for process improvement and troubleshooting.
  • Support scale-up activities and transfer of upstream processes from development to manufacturing environments.
  • Execute experiments following established protocols and maintain accurate documentation in laboratory notebooks and technical reports.
  • Investigate process deviations and implement corrective actions to ensure successful study execution.
  • Collaborate closely with Downstream Processing, Analytical Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Project Management teams.
  • Contribute to preparation of technical reports, development summaries, technology transfer documents, and regulatory support documentation.
  • Stay updated on advancements in mammalian cell culture technologies and implement innovative approaches where applicable.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • M.Sc./M.Tech. in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Microbiology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • Ph.D. candidates with relevant industry experience are also encouraged to apply.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Mammalian Upstream Process Development within Biopharmaceutical, Biologics, CDMO, or CRO environments.

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience in mammalian cell culture process development and optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with shake flasks, Ambr systems, and bioreactor operations.
  • Knowledge of media development, feed optimization, and process characterization studies.
  • Experience in scale-up, process transfer, and technology transfer activities.
  • Understanding of upstream process parameters, cell culture analytics, and process troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques and GMP/GDP documentation practices.
  • Experience in data analysis and interpretation of bioprocess performance results
