HIRING a Translational Research Scientist in the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering at IIT Bombay.

We are looking for a motivated scientist to join our efforts to move an innovative cell and gene therapy product from the laboratory towards the clinic. The role suits someone early in their career who wants exposure to the full arc of therapeutic development, including laboratory work, regulatory filings, and industry interactions while working closely with the principal investigator and the research team.

What the role involves:
·      Planning and carrying out experiments in support of product development, and troubleshooting technical problems as they arise.
·      Assisting with regulatory documentation and approvals for clinical translation, including submissions to national and institutional committees.
·      Coordinating with external partners such as contract research and manufacturing organisations, and testing laboratories.
·      Contributing to grant applications, technical reports, and discussions with prospective industry collaborators.

Who we are looking for:
– Master’s or Ph.D. in Biomaterials, Biotechnology, Immunology, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, or an allied discipline.
– Around 3-5 years of research, regulatory or commercial experience in the life sciences. Prior exposure to a contract research organisation, biotech company, or healthcare start-up is a plus, as is any familiarity with regulatory processes for clinical trials.
– We value strong work ethic, the ability to make progress on a project without close supervision, and the collaborative instincts to work well within a research group.

Position details:
Duration: Initially three years, extendable, subject to annual performance review.
Location: IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai.
