Job Overview

Job Description

The collection of ‘Big Data’ in the biomedical sciences is growing rapidly and has the potential to solve many of today’s pressing medical needs. Realising the benefits of ‘Big Data’ will require a new generation of leaders in biostatistical and computational methods who will be able to turn the information contained in datasets into actionable knowledge.

Programme Overview: A three-week summer programme will be hosted at the Trivedi School of Biosciences (TSB), Ashoka University, Sonipat, India. The programme will involve didactic lectures as well as mentored research experience using biomedical data. The focused training is anticipated to generate long-term interest in the students for taking up careers related to big data in biomedical sciences, including graduate-level research and beyond. The programme will conclude with a day-long symposium with internationally renowned keynotes, and all students will present their course projects.

Programme Dates: 27th July-14th August, 2026

Collaborative effort between Ashoka University and Yale University: The summer programme is inspired by the Big Data Summer Immersion at Yale University (BDSY) or its predecessor, Big Data Summer Institute at the University of Michigan (BDSI). These successful programmes, led by Professor Bhramar Mukherjee and her team at the University of Michigan and Yale University, will be customised to fit the needs of the students in India. The lectures will be delivered by relevant faculty from Ashoka University and Yale University.
