Role Overview

This is a remote, unpaid fellowship designed as a hands-on learning experience for individuals with advanced healthcare expertise who are interested in business development, licensing, and partnering within the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. Fellows will work closely with the BD team on opportunity assessment, diligence, competitive landscape analysis, partner-facing presentations, and transaction support, with a strong focus on scientific and clinical due diligence for live opportunities.

This role is well suited for a self-motivated, analytical individual eager to deepen their understanding of biomedical licensing and capable of bridging rigorous R&D evaluation with strategic business development needs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate potential in-licensing, out-licensing, and partnering opportunities across biotech and pharmaceutical assets.
• Conduct scientific, clinical, and competitive due diligence on programs, platforms, and companies.
• Analyze mechanism of action, preclinical and clinical data, development strategy, competitive landscape, and key differentiation points.
• Support preparation of diligence summaries, internal assessment materials, strategic recommendation memos, and partner-facing presentations.
• Assist with data room preparation and review of scientific, clinical, regulatory, and corporate materials.
• Help coordinate diligence workflows and support transaction-related discussions, Q&A, and documentation.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, PharmD, or other advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacology, biomedical sciences, bioengineering, or a related field; exceptional candidates with strong relevant industry experience may also be considered.
• Strong domain knowledge in one or more of the following: cardiovascular, metabolic disease, autoimmune / inflammatory disease, oncology.
• Familiarity with therapeutic modalities such as small molecules, biologics, antibodies, peptides, ADCs, and related platforms.
• Hands-on biotech/pharma R&D experience, with the ability to assess scientific rationale, data quality, development risk, and asset differentiation.
• Strong interest in business development, licensing, strategy, and transactions in the biotech/pharma industry.
