The Opportunity
We are looking for a visionary and execution-driven Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to lead LOXIM’s pharmaceutical innovation ecosystem.
This is a strategic business-building role responsible for driving:
- Scientific vision and innovation strategy
- R&D and technology platform development
- Portfolio and product strategy
- CDMO / CMO scientific responsiveness
- Analytical Development Laboratory (ADL)
- IP and scientific differentiation
- Leadership and capability development
The CSO will play a critical role in building LOXIM Pharma into a globally respected, innovation-led organization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Scientific Vision & Innovation Leadership
- Define and drive LOXIM Pharma’s scientific vision and innovation roadmap
- Build differentiated chemistry-led platforms
- Foster a culture of scientific rigor, agility, accountability, and technical excellence
- Strengthen LOXIM’s positioning as a credible global innovation partner
2. R&D Platform Development
Build and scale capabilities across:
- Process chemistry and chemical synthesis
- APIs and pharmaceutical intermediates
- Enzymatic synthesis / biocatalysis
- Peptide chemistry
- Advanced process development and scale-up
Drive route scouting, process optimization, impurity control, yield improvement, cost competitiveness, and commercialization readiness.
3. CDMO / CMO Scientific Business Enablement
- Lead rapid technical evaluation of customer opportunities
- Enable fast and credible scientific responses to RFQs and feasibility studies
- Support customer discussions, due diligence, and technical negotiations
- Partner closely with business development teams to accelerate conversions
4. Analytical Development Laboratory (ADL)
Build and lead a high-performing ADL focused on:
- Analytical method development and validation
- Method transfer and troubleshooting
- Product characterization and development analytics
- Technical support for internal and customer projects
5. Portfolio Strategy
Drive product and portfolio decisions based on:
- Scientific feasibility
- Market attractiveness
- Competitive differentiation
- Regulatory complexity
- Margin potential and strategic fit
Focus areas include APIs, pharmaceutical intermediates, specialty products, and CDMO / CMO platforms.
6. Intellectual Property & Scientific Differentiation
- Lead patent landscaping and freedom-to-operate assessments
- Drive process innovation and technology differentiation
- Build defensible scientific know-how and IP-led opportunities
- Support strategic scientific partnerships and collaborations
7. Technology Transfer & Commercialization
Ensure seamless transfer from development to manufacturing by driving:
- Process robustness and scale-up readiness
- Validation and reproducibility
- Commercial feasibility and plant integration
Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, regulatory, supply chain, and commercial teams.
8. Regulatory & Quality Scientific Leadership
Support global regulatory and quality expectations through:
- CMC documentation and development compliance
- QbD principles and audit readiness
- Technical investigations and problem-solving
9. External Scientific Ecosystem & Partnerships
Build external scientific connectivity through:
- Academic collaborations
- CRO / CDMO partnerships
- Technology alliances and expert networks
- Open innovation initiatives
10. Leadership & Talent Development
Build and mentor future scientific leaders with strengths in:
- Science and technology
- Manufacturing and quality systems
- Regulatory discipline
- Commercial awareness
- Technical and people leadership
Qualifications
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, or related disciplines
Experience
- 20+ years in pharmaceutical innovation, R&D, or scientific leadership
- Strong exposure to APIs, intermediates, CDMO, and CMO environments
- Proven experience building scientific organizations and innovation platforms
- Experience spanning development through commercialization
Preferred exposure:
- Process chemistry
- Biocatalysis / enzymatic chemistry
- Peptide chemistry
- Technology transfer
- Analytical development
- Global regulated markets
