CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, invites applications from candidates who are Indian citizens, to pursue research in modern biology leading to a Ph.D. Degree. The projects offered for Ph.D. would be in the broad areas of Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Developmental Biology, Plant Molecular Biology, Conservation Biology, Ecology, Protein Structure and Function, Biology of Macromolecules, Biology of Infection, Immunology, Epigenetics, Chromatin Biology and Bioinformatics

A. QUALIFICATION AND ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR APPLYING
Qualifying degree: Master’s degree in science with minimum 55% marks (without rounding off)
or equivalent grade for General (UR)/General-EWS and minimum 50% marks (without rounding
off) or equivalent grade for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third gender, and Persons with Disability (PwD).
OR
4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s degree programme with minimum 75% marks (without rounding
off) or equivalent grade for General (UR)/General-EWS and minimum 70% marks (without
rounding off) or equivalent grade for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, third gender, and Persons with Disability
(PwD) from a recognized University.
Eligibility criteria:
National-level fellowship: Applicant should have a valid National-level Fellowship (JRF/ SRF of
any funding agency, e.g., CSIR, ICMR, UGC, DBT, DST, etc.) or any other equivalent fellowship
like DBT-BET, INSPIRE, RGNF, etc. (Tenable at all AcSIR-associated Research Institutes except
ICMR Institutes).
For candidates who want to be considered for LaCONES ONLY – The applicant should have
qualified either GATE Ecology and Evolution or have a valid National-level Fellowship JRF of any
funding agency, e.g., CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST, etc., or any other equivalent fellowship like DBT-
BET, INSPIRE, RGNF, etc. (TENABLE AT ALL AcSIR ACADEMIC CENTRE).

    B. SELECTION PROCESS
  1. Online applications will be screened, and eligible candidates will be called for a computer-
    based written test at one of their preferred centers, or a remote proctored online test on
    26.10.2025.
  2. Candidates should indicate their preference on the application portal for pursuing a PhD
    at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), the Laboratory for the
    Conservation of Endangered Species (LaCONES), or exclusively at “LaCONES only”.
  3. Those opting for “LaCONES only” will be screened through an interview and a statement
    of purpose. Please upload the statement of purpose when applying online. LaCONES only
    candidates are exempted from computer-based written test.
  4. Candidates qualifying in the test/screening and having a valid FELLOWSHIP for pursuing
    Ph.D. will be shortlisted to appear for in-person interview at CCMB in the fourth week of
    November 2025 or the first week of December 2025. This interview would be conducted
    in two rounds across two separate days.
    A valid fellowship is an ABSOLUTE requirement for pursuing a Ph.D. at CCMB, and the
    eligible fellowships are:
