We are hiring a PhD student (Biology / Biomedical Engineering / related fields) 🚨

At the Institute for Experimental Molecular Imaging (ExMI), we are looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our team and work on the further development and optimization of our advanced vascularized 3D in vitro tumor models for MRI-based applications.
🔬 Project focus:
You will work on the establishment of perfusable, vascularized 3D tumor spheroids in a mesoscopic, MRI-compatible bioreactor system, and contribute to the validation of novel diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI)-based biophysical models of the tumor microenvironment.
💡 What we are looking for:
– Masters degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields
– Strong experience in cell culture, ideally 3D systems (spheroids/organoids) or iPSC work
– Interest in imaging (MRI) and interdisciplinary research
– Highly motivated, structured, and team-oriented mindset

You will work in an interdisciplinary environment combining tumor biology, bioengineering, and imaging, in close collaboration with partners in Aachen and Münster.
