At the newly established Netherlands Centre for Electron Nanoscopy (NeCEN) in Utrecht, we’re expanding our cutting-edge cryo-EM facility—and we’re looking for a talented scientist to join our team.
With the arrival of a Krios 5 microscope (Selectris & Falcon 4i) and a plasma focused ion beam (pFIB), this is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of molecular and cellular imaging, supporting research from purified biomolecules to tissue-level analysis.

Enable high-quality cryo-EM data collection (SPA & tomography)
Support and train a diverse user community
Optimize acquisition workflows and sample preparation strategies
Ensure top performance of advanced microscopy systems

👩🔬 We’re looking for someone with:
MSc or PhD in biology, chemistry, physics, or related field
Hands-on experience with cryo-EM (SPA and/or tomography)
A collaborative, service-oriented mindset and strong communication skills
🎯 What we offer:
€3,708 – €5,538/month + holiday pay & year-end bonus
32–40 hour work week
Initial 1-year contract with prospect of permanence
