How Admissions Work
Admissions through JAM 2026 are categorized into:
- Admitting Institutes: Coordinated by the JAM 2026 Organizing Institute.
- Result Sharing Institutes: Candidates must approach these institutes directly after qualifying.
JAM 2026 Organizing Institute will coordinate the admission process of only the Admitting Institutes and the candidates can apply for Admission after qualifying the JAM 2026 examination. For admissions in Result Sharing Institutes qualifying candidates have to directly approach the respective Institute / admission body.
Key Information for JAM 2026
- Exam Date: February 15, 2026 (Sunday)
- Format: Computer-Based Test (CBT) across seven subjects: Biotechnology, Chemistry, Economics, Geology, Mathematical Statistics, Mathematics, and Physics.
- Locations: Conducted in approximately 100 cities across India.
- Eligibility: Open to all nationalities, with no age restriction. The candidates who have either completed or will be appearing in the final examination of their qualifying degree in 2026 are eligible to appear in JAM 2026.
Admission Criteria
- All India Rank (AIR): Admission is based on AIR in each test paper, reservation policies (Govt. of India), and seat availability.
- Foreign Nationals: Must comply with the respective Admitting Institute’s regulations.
- Requirements: The candidates who have either completed or will be appearing in the final examination of their qualifying degree in 2026 are eligible to appear in JAM 2026. By qualifying in JAM 2026, candidates can apply for admission subject to the conditions that
- all parts of their undergraduate programme shall be completed before the date of admission of the respective Admitting Institute, and
- proof of having passed the qualifying degree with required eligibility, as specified by the Admitting Institute should be submitted within the timeline provided by respective admitting institute.
The list of academic programmes, number of seats, Eligibility Requirements (ERs) and Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) of each of the programmes mentioned in the Information Brochure are subject to change, as per the policy of Admitting Institutes.
In all matters concerning JAM 2026, the decision of the Organizing Institute, JAM 2026 will be final and binding on all the applicants
