Job Description

Exciting Opportunity | Northeastern UniversityModerna Academic–Industrial Postdoctoral Fellowship

In continuation of our exciting partnership between Northeastern University and Moderna, we are recruiting two Postdoctoral Research Fellows. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of world-class academic research and cutting-edge industrial pharmaceutical science.

We are seeking exceptional candidates for two distinct tracks:

📊 Pharmacometrics (PMx)
Ideal for candidates with a PhD in pharmacometrics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, or a related field. Proficiency with tools such as NONMEM, Monolix, R, nlmixr2, or Phoenix is expected, along with a strong foundation in PK/PD modeling, exposure–response analysis, and dose optimization.

⚙️ Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP)
Ideal for candidates with a PhD in applied mathematics, mathematical biology, biomedical or chemical engineering, physics, or systems pharmacology. Experience with mechanistic/ODE-based modeling and proficiency in MATLAB, R, or Julia is essential.

What makes this fellowship distinctive:

✅ Embedded within Moderna’s Clinical & Quantitative Pharmacology (CQP) function
✅ Hands-on contribution to model-informed drug development (MIDD) across early and late clinical stages
✅ Active involvement in scientific publications and conference presentations
✅ Mentorship opportunities within an established academic laboratory at Northeastern University and at Moderna
✅ Engagement across multiple therapeutic modalities and cross-functional development teams

The Fellowships are designed for early-career scientists who are passionate about applying advanced quantitative methods to real-world drug development challenges — and who want to build their careers at the interface of academia and industry.
