Job Description
Anqi Zhang group at Caltech is recruiting: two postdocs (mechanical design of endovascular neural interfaces; cell-type-specific neural interfaces) + multiple Ph.D. positions. If you build at the interface of electronics, chemistry & neuroscience.
Prof. Anqi Zhang’s group in the Department of Medical Engineering at Caltech has two (2) postdoc positions and multiple Ph.D. positions in flexible brain-machine interfaces. The group develops innovative tools for monitoring and modulating neural circuits through electronic, chemical, and genetic engineering. The ultimate goal is to bring novel technology from the laboratory to the clinic to understand and treat neurological disorders.
For the postdoc positions:
Position 1: Mechanical Design of Endovascular Neural Interfaces. This position focuses on the design, microfabrication, and characterization of minimally invasive neural interface devices for endovascular deployment. Candidates should have a mechanical engineering background with strong experience in microrobotics, microfabrication, and/or animal surgery.
Position 2: Cell-Type-Specific Neural Interfaces. This position focuses on creating molecularly targeted interface technologies that selectively engage defined neuronal populations. Candidates should have expertise in surface chemistry, biological sample processing, molecular biology, and/or animal surgery.
Prospective candidates should review the lab’s current directions at the research page (/research) and contact Prof. Zhang (anqizhang@caltech.edu) with their anticipated start date, research interests, and a CV outlining their research accomplishments. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and selected candidates will be contacted for an interview.
