Tasks & responsibilities
- In your Postdoctoral Position you will investigate how e.g. cellular stress causes changes in virus morphology and how this in turn virus properties like infectivity or stability of the virus.
- Therefore, you will establish electron microscopy-based methods for the analysis of morphological changes of viruses.
- You will investigate the molecular root cause via LC-MS-based technologies elucidating protein composition.
- In combination with other methods like cell-based assays you will assess the relevance and criticality of those changes on infectivity or immunogenicity.
- You will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams and make a valuable contribution to the advancement of innovative therapeutic concepts.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in the field of Virology studying Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology or equivalent
- Strong biological background and in analytical methods relevant for virus characterization with a focus on cryo-Electron Microscopy
- Biophysical methods for virus characterization is a plus. Here the focus is on LC-MS and HPLC-based methods (e.g. SEC, IEX, RP, Affinity Chromatography)
- Experience in working with viruses, ideally in the field of oncolytic viruses, cancer vaccines and/or gene therapy
- Technical expertise in pharmaceutical development of biologicals as well as knowledge in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, filling and GMP is beneficial
- Willingness and ability to work with GMOs classified as BSL2 and animal pathogens
- Know how about statistical approaches like Design-of-Experiment is a plus
- Excellent skills within a cross-functional team across various interfaces, along with enthusiasm for working in a complex and rapidly evolving new environment
