Job Overview

Job Description

Are you looking for a postdoctoral opportunity in the field of Biocatalysis and Structural Biology in Barcelona?

The Biotransformation and Bioactive Molecules Group at the Institute of Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC-CSIC, https://www.iqac.csic.es/) is seeking a potential candidate to apply for a Juan de la Cierva Postdoctoral Fellowship and join our team.

Our research focuses in the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel artificial metalloenzymes (ArMs) for applications in biocatalysis. One of our main current projects, led by Dr. Pere Clapés and myself, involves applying a structure-based design strategy that integrates insights from techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and other biophysical methods, as well as state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools, to investigate structure-function relationships, and to guide the iterative optimisation of ArMs.

The Juan de la Cierva Fellowship is a competitive national postdoctoral programme funded by the Spanish State Research Agency (https://www.aei.gob.es). It supports promising early-career scientists, enabling them to complete their postdoctoral research training at Spanish R&D centres. Fellowships typically last for two years and are open to candidates who obtained their PhD within the last two years. Candidates with a non-Spanish PhD are fully eligible. The call for applications is expected to open on 25/11/2025 🗓️

💡 Previous experience in biochemistry and molecular biology, including recombinant protein production and purification, will be considered a plus.

If you think you would be a good fit, please send your CV, along with a brief statement outlining your research interests and details of any relevant publications before 15th November to 📩 yolanda.perez@iqac.csic.es.
