Job Overview

Job Description

We are seeking a Research Associate II to join our Protein Sciences team to support production of therapeutic molecules with a focus on cloning and mammalian cell transfections.

About EpiBiologics, Inc.

We are a venture backed company with a mission to develop first-in-class and best-in-class antibody based targeted therapies against membrane and extracellular proteins that drive underlying disease biology. Protein degradation has the potential to eliminate disease causing proteins that were previously not addressable by classical therapeutic approaches. First generation protein degradation approaches can degrade intracellular proteins but do not address membrane and extracellular proteins, which are approximately 40% of the proteome. Our proprietary EpiTAC platform enables the development of first-in-class and best-in-class targeted therapies that degrade disease driving membrane and extracellular proteins. This approach can be effective against a wide range of disorders that lack meaningful treatment options today.

Essential Job Functions, but not limited to:

  • Responsible for cloning and mammalian cell expression of various proteins.
  • Must knowledge of and experience with molecular biology and tissue culture techniques, including transient transfections and stable cell line development
  • Previous experience with protein purification
  • Able to participate in a wide range of projects to support the discovery, engineering, small- and large-scale production of biologics.
  • Collaborate with other team members to meet project timelines and goals.
  • Maintain excellent electronic lab notebook documentation and support daily lab operations including lab upkeep and equipment maintenance.
  • Present experimental findings and contribute to scientific discussion at company meetings.

To qualify for this position, candidates must have:

  • B.S. or M.S. in molecular biology, cell biology, or a closely related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of related experience
  • Experience with basic and modern molecular biology techniques, including DNA construct generation, sequence analysis, cloning, and DNA isolation
  • Experience with cell culture techniques, handling, maintenance, harvest, freezing, and banking
  • Knowledge of mammalian expression cell lines, transient and stable transfection techniques
  • Experience with cell viability and expression titer assessment
  • Experience with stable cell line or stable pool generation is desirable
  • Familiarity with protein purification techniques is desirable
  • Ability to work in a collaborative work environment, assisting with lab maintenance duties
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Accurate record keeping is a must
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of online teleconferencing software (e.g, Zoom or Teams).
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and/or other web-based applications.
