Overview

Scientist I supports the development and optimization of molecular assays. They work closely with senior scientists and cross-functional teams, contributing to research projects and ensuring the delivery of high-quality results.

Responsibility

  1. Perform routine molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qPCR, NGS, and nucleic acid extraction.
  2. Design and execute experiments under the guidance of senior scientists.
  3. Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data to other scientists and Research Associates.
  4. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and optimize protocols.
  5. Ensure good documentation practices for assay development, validation, quality assurance, technical investigations, and operational support of molecular diagnostic tests in a highly regulated clinical laboratory environment.

Qualifications

  1. Must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
    1. B.S. with 6+ years of industry experience in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
    2. M.S. with 4+ years of industry experience in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
    3. Ph.D. in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
  2. Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques in an academic or industrial setting.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  4. Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  5. Excellent time management abilities.

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements – light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements – stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, pushing or pulling, and reaching. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
