Job Description
Progentos Therapeutics is pioneering a new approach in regenerative medicine: activating endogenous progenitor cells to treat degenerative diseases. Progentos raised $65 million in series A funding to advance projects in multiple sclerosis (MS) and osteoporosis. Our multiple sclerosis program, which targets inducing remyelination to restore function in MS patients, is on track to enter the clinic in H2:26.
Progentos’ osteoporosis program is aimed at developing orally available therapeutics that can induce bone formation to reduce the risk of fractures in patients. The program is in the lead selection stage. Progentos has developed new chemical entities that are orally available and can increase bone mineral density and bone formation as measured by DEXA and micro-CT.
As we continue to advance this exciting program, we are seeking a Scientist / Senior Scientist for our osteoporosis research to define and execute experiments to assess the efficacy of potential anabolic agents in vivo. Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, the Scientist will advance the osteoporosis program with experimental design, execution and data analysis. The scientist will have the opportunity to contribute to regenerative medicine therapeutics as an early member in a dynamic startup company.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Create, design, and optimize in vivo methods to determine the efficacy of potential anabolic agents using histological, imaging and mechanical strength assays
- Independently execute and analyze in vivo experiments effectively on rigorous timelines
- Contribute to ongoing internal lab and external collaboration projects performed by academic partners and CROs
- Draft and submit technical reports. Assist in drafting patents and manuscripts
- Assist in preparation of external communications and presentations
- Participate in evaluation of external technology that may be in-licensed to supplement the internal Progentos efforts
Qualifications:
- PhD or MS with experience in Biology, or related field, with expertise in osteoporosis preferred
- 2+ years of industry or post-doctoral experience required
- Proven success in establishing and executing relevant in vivo assays
- Experience developing, executing and quantitating in vivo osteoporosis assays. Knowledge of DEXA, micro-CT, and mechanical bone strength assays
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills as well as attention to detail
