Mandrake Bio is building the foundational AI stack to make biology programmable. We are not just analyzing data; we are building intelligent systems to design new molecular tools from first principles. Our goal is to unlock the next generation of gene editing to solve for longevity, de-aging, and climate resilience.

We are a VC-backed, small, high-velocity applied research lab. We don’t care about credentials; we care about proof of work, first-principles thinking, and the ability to ship.

Responsibilities: Candidates who join us should expect to manage a variety of projects including:

• Perform molecular cloning, construct design, and plasmid preparation for high-throughput screening applications
• Execute arrayed and multiplex gene editing characterization and optimization in mammalian and primary cell models
• Assay development: miniaturization, automation, key process improvements for our high-throughput experimental platforms
• Collaborate with computational teams to ensure computational modeling is biologically sound
• Manage our lean wet-lab end to end

Requirements:

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related with 1-2 years of relevant post-graduate experience (industry experience preferred)
• Clear communicator with a track record of designing interpretable experiments in complex multi-variate systems
• Proficiency in mammalian and primary cell culture including transfection, cell line engineering and FACS

Nice to have:

• Experience with protein design and screening
• Experience at a cell or gene therapy company
• Experience in cloning or building complex DNA/RNA libraries for high-throughput experimentation
• Experience with high throughput sequencing technologies (SBS, Nanopore, Pacbio)
