Role : Team Lead – Upstream Processing (Biologics)

Location : Bengaluru, IN

Role in a nutshell

You will play a key lead role in upstream process development, owning end-to-end functional deliverables including process development, scale-up, technology transfer, and process characterization. The role demands strong cross-functional collaboration, hands-on technical problem-solving, and a deep commitment to documentation, data integrity, and operational excellence.

What you would be doing?

• Leading sub teams in functional goals that include process development, scale up, technology transfer, SDM, and process characterization.
• Troubleshoot and support team members in solving technical challenges during upstream functional activities. Serve as a strong anchor to ensure functional goals are met within minimal spends and failures.
• Manage scale-up to pilot scale through strong collaboration and communication with pilot team and ensure zero failures
• Ensure strong documentation culture in adherence to ALCOA principles within the team. Ensure checklist-driven review of eLN experiments authored by team members.
• Be familiar with historical know-hows and perform in-depth assessment of generated upstream data through strong collaboration with peers from different groups.
• Use modern approaches for data analysis and use predictive analysis to ensure minimum experimentation is performed to achieve project deadlines
• Ensure data is promptly compiled in master sheets, presentations for anytime-ready presentation to senior management
• Manage lab operations – Inventory management, procurement, adherence to 5S principles, team workday/weekend planning, leading new equipment installation and others.
• Lead and support team members in preparing process protocols, technical reports, TTDs, risk assessment documents, SOP/IOP/EOPs etc.
• Present data in inter- and intradepartmental technical and non-technical meetings
• Harbor strong relationship with Functional Lead and partner to ensure smooth operations and achievement of all committed goals within timelines

You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

• Hold a Ph.D. (Biotechnology or Chemical Engineering) with at least 3 years of experience or
• M. Tech (Biotechnology or Chemical Engineering) with at least 7 years of experience in upstream process development.
