Job Description

The Strategy team, part of the global Market Intelligence and Business Strategy (MIBS) group our company’s Animal Health Division, is responsible for assessing, prioritizing, and driving long term strategic direction and value creation for our company’s Global Animal Health enterprise.

The Director, Enterprise Strategy will be considered a leader in the global Strategy Team and the organization overall. Reporting to the AVP, MIBS, and supporting our company’s Animal Health Leadership Team, he/she plays a pivotal role in identifying key growth areas and leading cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies and transformations for the global business

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead enterprise strategy assessment and planning to define and articulate the organization’s business strategies focused on delivering medium and long-term value for the division
  • Manage cross-functional teams in the evaluation and implementation of strategic opportunities within the company’s core business as well as adjacent domains
  • Design and facilitate strategy-related workshops, including planning interactive activities and breakout sessions; Analyze outcomes and present insights and next steps to stakeholders.
  • Lead the integration and alignment of strategy processes into business and financial planning workflows
  • Build business cases, models and rationales for potential investments
  • Provide internal consulting and thought leadership to the Animal Health Leadership Team, as well as other Commercial, R&D, Manufacturing, Supply, and Finance leaders.
  • Perform rigorous analysis and prioritize through hypothesis-based problem solving
  • Prepare thought pieces regarding critical industry trends and opportunities for the Animal Health Leadership Team
  • Create presentations for regular business reviews, leadership updates, including the Board of Directors
  • Support business development/M&A activities  
  • Coach junior team members on the broader MIBS team

  • Strong financial acumen and ability to develop and interpret financial models
  • A power user of both Excel and Powerpoint, and extremely agile in third party investment research tools
  • A sense of humor and strong desire to be part of and contribute to a high-functioning and supportive team environment

Qualifications

Education:

  • Required: BA/BS
  • Preferred: MBA/MA/MS

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 12 years working experience with at least 3 years in a corporate Strategy function or Transformation team, top-tier Management Consulting firm or Investment bank
  • Experience leading strategic assessment or development projects that have included members of a cross-functional, senior leadership team, ideally in a global organization
  • Conceptual knowledge of core business disciplines such as Strategy, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, and Commercial Operations
  • Demonstrated financial modeling skills
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal
  • Understanding of industry trends and factors that impact pharma or animal health business in order to define and translate strategy
  • Attention to detail  
  • Persuasive written and visual communication skills
  • 10% travel (primarily global travel)
