We at Chromosome Labs Pvt. Ltd. are actively hiring for Bioinformatics Scientist

Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (Onsite only).*
Role:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Bioinformatics Scientist to join our dynamic team of collaborative scientists. The ideal candidate will have an M.Sc. in Bioinformatics (or related field) with 2–3 years of hands-on experience in processing, analyzing, and interpreting NGS and other omics data. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of workflows and Next-Gen sequence data analysis deliverables for various client projects.
Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and optimize bioinformatics pipelines for analyzing NGS and other omics data.
• Perform data preprocessing, quality control, alignment, and downstream analyses.
• Conduct analyses such as variant calling, genome assembly, gene expression analysis, metagenomic profiling, and epigenomic analyses.
• Develop and/or customize scripts and tools to address specific research questions.
• Collaborate with wet-lab and cross-functional teams to interpret data and answer client queries.
• Stay updated with recent advances in bioinformatics tools, methodologies, and databases.
• Document workflows, prepare technical reports, and contribute to project deliverables in a timely manner.
Essential Qualifications:
• M.Sc. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, or related discipline.
• 2–3 years of hands-on experience in NGS data analysis e.g. transcriptomics, metagenomics, whole genome assembly, epigenomics etc. (3D modelling/docking not required)
• Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Python, R, or Bash.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in pipeline/workflow development (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake).
• Familiarity with containerization platforms (e.g., Docker, Singularity).
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Knowledge of popular bioinformatics databases and resources.
• Knowledge of statistical and/or machine learning methods for biological data analysis is desirable.
