The Tsui lab in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at LSU Health Shreveport is seeking to recruit a motivated and creative postdoc to join our new team in studying the role of glycosylation in cell-cell communication. Multiple projects on elucidating the genetic regulatory network of glycosylation, deorphanizing human lectins, and investigating specific contributions of glycan-lectin interactions in neurodegenerative diseases are available.
The projects will primarily use cultured cells in a BSL2 environment along with CRISPR screens, flow cytometry, microscopy, genomics, and glycomics. Researchers will be expected to design, perform, and document experiments as well as disseminate their work through conferences and published manuscripts.
The PI will provide all training as well as support in applying for extramural and intramural postdoctoral fellowships. Salary will adhere to NIH guidelines. Required skills, abilities/competencies needed to perform this job successfully:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform cell culture work in BSL2 environment.
- Proficiency with common laboratory equipment and techniques required.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology or a related discipline and training within a selected area of specialization.
- Strong/recent basic research lab experience in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, or bioinformatics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in BSL2 mammalian cell culture including lentiviral vectors.
- Research experience in iPSC work, especially iPSC-derived neuronal cell types.
- Strong publication record.
- A background in glycobiology and/or iPSC work is preferred but not required.
