Job Overview

Job Description

Dear potential DPhil / PhD candidates. Just a reminder that you have *less than a month* left to get your applications in for the Genomic Medicine and Statistics (GMS) 4-year DPhil programme at the Centre for Human Genetics: https://lnkd.in/e2z6PcPh. See us also on FindAPhD: https://lnkd.in/eqKDakFD Our mission is to recruit and train outstanding future leaders in the application of genomics to advance human health. We have an unusual structure that gives you a first year of training and lab rotations – and then the onus is on you (along with supervisors) to develop the DPhil research project that you will take forward through your DPhil. Students work in a broad range of areas including experimental approaches, statistical methods, or machine learning and AI in large omic datasets. And they work across disease areas – inflammation and immunity, metabolic disorders, cancer, neurodegenerative and neurodevelopment disease, or infectious diseases – or in areas of basic science such as fundamental mechanisms of mutation. To do this, they join one or more of over 80 research groups across Oxford institutions and often build new collaborations. The fantastic research conducted by the GMS cohort was highlighted at our recent symposium event: https://lnkd.in/eYb647Tz. Places on the course are of course highly competitive – we have a limited number of spaces for Home-funded students (and potentially very competitive overseas / non-Home places). So you need to get in a great application that gets across your background, experience and scientific interests, and how way you want to develop. If this sounds like you – please get your application and your references in now! Closing date is 12:00 midday (UK time) on Tuesday 1 December.
